Capron Musk Strawberry
Capron Musk Strawberry
Fragaria moschata 'Capron'
The musk, or hautbois strawberry, is a species of strawberry native to Europe - found growing from Scandanavia, into Eastern Europe and south into Italy. They are cultivated widely in private home gardens as a groundcover in both sunny and shady areas. The flavor is rich, sweet and intense - a cross of strawberry and pineapple!
Both male and female plants are hardy and can survive in both cold winters and hot summers. 1 male will pollinize up to 5 female plants. Musk strawberries are cultivated commercially on a small scale, particularly in Italy. Plants are slightly more productive than Profumata plants, and also produce a small fall crop. Sold in 4" pots.
